Basemap Configuration

Basemaps serve the foundational context which you can easily overlay data from layers and visualize geographic information. The platform enables you to configure the base map as per your analysis and visualization preferences. You can turn on additional layers namely buildings, borders, and so on.

Currently, you can configure the following basemaps:

  • ArcGIS Terrain
  • ArcGIS
  • Open Street Map

ArcGIS Terrain

To configure ArcGIS Terrain map, do the following:

  1. Login to platform.

  2. In the Map interface area, click the Layers button, and then select the ArcGIS Terrain option.

Accessing ArcGIS Terrain

  1. Optionally, you may also want to select one or more layers to turn on the Roads, Borders, and Building layers to help with your analyzing process.

Use when you need

  • 3D elevation data for volumetric analysis or line-of-sight calculations
  • Realistic topographic visualization for mountainous regions or urban landscapes
  • Watershed modeling or slope analysis workflows
  • Flight path planning or viewshed analysis requiring accurate elevation models
  • Geological or environmental studies where terrain morphology matters

ArcGIS

To configure ArcGIS map, do the following:

  1. Log in to platform.

  2. In the Map interface area, click the Layers button, and then select the ArcGIS option.

  1. Optionally, you may also want to select one or more layers to turn on the Roads, Borders, and Building layers to help with your analyzing process.

Use when you need

  • Authoritative, professionally curated cartographic data
  • Consistent symbology across enterprise applications
  • High-resolution imagery with frequent updates for urban areas
  • Regulatory compliance requiring certified data sources
  • Integration with existing Esri infrastructure or workflows
  • Detailed administrative boundaries and demographic layers

Open Street Map

OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world.

To configure the Open Street Map, do the following:

  1. Log in the platform.

  2. In the Map interface area, click the Layers button, and then select the Open Street Map option.

Accessing OpenStreetMap

  1. Optionally, you may also want to select one or more layers to turn on the Roads, Borders, and Building layers to help with your analyzing process.

Use when you need

  • Community-contributed data with frequent crowd-sourced updates
  • Coverage in regions where commercial data may be limited or outdated
  • Cost-effective solution for non-critical or public-facing applications
  • Points of interest data including local businesses, amenities, and infrastructure
  • Rapid updates reflecting ground-truth changes from local contributors
